NORMAL CAMPAIGN
-----------------------------

Even there are not much difference between Advance Wars 1 and 2, i still recommend to play through Advance Wars 1 first. AW2 will have more aspect to count in compare with AW1. In AW1 you just need to make sure your missions complete within time frame to unlock some features, explaination and tutorial also more complete, in other words, good for beginers. Those who not yet and new in this game, try AW1. If you insist, You will find no chalange that AW1 missions after finish AW2.

Campaign missions are rated under a point system just like War Room. Out of 300 points, 100 each goes to Speed, Power, and Technique.

In this Guide i will list out spesific moves day by day, as much as i can (example: "day1: north infantry move 1 East 2 north), but do know that Advance Wars 2 AI been upgrade, AI will response with different moves every time you make a move, specially in "self deploy unit" missions. I will list out important info and general strategy for getting a Rank S in all 34 Missions. In Normal Campaign beside than last mission, other shouldn't be a problem to get a Rank S with a few try out. Come on, don't be lazy, try to work out your own strategy, refer too much guide will spoil the fun, don't you think so? Have fun and good luck in missions.

Prologue
--------
Sturm is back in Macro Land. Hawke and Sturm ramble onward on taking Macro Land and Wars World. Cosmo Land was taken in the past, but this is different.

Andy, Sami, and Max (in that order) talk about Black Hole's return. Andy and Max argue over the fact that Wars World has more than one continent, and that Macro Land is not on the same continent. The other armies have also spotted Black Hole forces in their country. Andy seems to like this war to bring the four countries together. Andy runs to the first campaign battle. Here is your first training mission!



Mission 1: Cleanup

Andy VS. Flak
Difficulty: *

"Andy: Take out Black Hole's troops!"
 
Nell will run you through some tutorial with Andy, how to make moves, how to capture building, how to attack and sort on.

General Idea of the strategy:

Win a Free Rank S with capture enemy HQ (infantry fetch by APC, APC block in the brige), or eliminate enemy's troops (2 infantry). Finish the mission within 5 days and dun get any unit killed.

Predeployed Units:
Orange Star: 3 infantry, 1 APC
Black Hole: 2 infantry

Rank Points: 290-300 points with a Rank S.
Speed: Try to finish within 5 days.
Power: Kill any one of the infantry will get you a 100.
Technique: Just dun get any of your troops killed.



Mission 2: Border Skirmish

Sami vs. Flak
Difficulty: *

"Sami: Black Hole is closing in! Can I hold the bridge?"
 
Still, tutorial of capturing buildings, introduction to other different units. Capture enemy's HQ or wipe their troops out of map to win.

General Idea of the strategy:

Take out the tank with your tank and Mech, Infantry capture neutral buiding. Then park yourArtillery south of the building at the bridge, tank in the building, blocking the entrance, heal your Mech in buildings (HQ or cities) if injurd. With the extra defence give by the cities, take out Flak's 2 tanks shouldn't be a problem. Choose capture HQ or wipe out enemy's troops to win the clear the mission.

Predeployed Units:
OS: 1 Infantry, 1 Mech, 1 APC, 1 Artillery, 1 Tank
BH: 2 Infantry, 1 APC, 3 Tanks

Rank Points: 290-300 points with a Rank S.
Speed: Try to finish within 10 days.
Power: Just eliminate enemy's troops as many as you can. You will need to wipe out their tanks in order to proceed anyway.
Technique: Remember to retreat or heal a unit when injurd.



Mission 3: Orange Dawn

Max vs. Flak
Difficulty: *

"Max: Armies on both sides. An ocean in the middle. Let the hostilities begin!"
 
Small map, with lots of predeployed units, defeat all enemy forces or capture enemy HQ to win.

General Idea of the strategy:

Take out enemy Battle Copter first, then get your Medium Tank sit in the wood in the island, blocking the entrance. Artillery park behind Medium Tank. If Medium Tank get critical swap with tank, just block the entrance until all enemy's tank wipe out. Mean time your battle Copters should take out 1 or 2 tanks with no problem. Capture enemy HQ with the help of Transport Copter also a good choice to end swiftly.

Predeployed Units:
OS: 1 Infantry, 1 Artillery, 2 Tanks, 1 Medium Tank, 1 Transport Copter, 2 Battle Copters
BH: 2 Infantry, 2 Tanks, 2 Medium Tanks, 1 Battle Copter

Rank Points: 290-300 points with a Rank S.
Speed: Try to finish within 5-6 days.
Power: Just eliminate enemy's troops as many as you can. You will need to wipe out their tanks in order to proceed anyway.
Technique: Remember to retreat or combine units when injurd.



Mission 4: Flak Attack

Max vs. Flak
Difficulty: **

"Max: Enemy planes attack from the sea! Can the ground forces repel them?"
 
In normal campaign, this chapter holds the map to secret Lab Mission, careful not to miss out. Shoot down all enemy forces or capture enemy HQ to win. Personally i think wipe out the forces will be more easy.

General Idea of the strategy:

Not much strategy to talk about, shoot them down, combine to heal unit if they injurd, and remember to capture City north of your HQ, within range of your units' starting positions to get the Lap Mission map. one thing is aim your anti-air to Bombers and Fighter first cause they will waste your troops easily and cost you some points in Technique.

Predeployed Units:
OS: 1 Infantry, 1 Mech, 1 A-Air, 1 Rocket, 1 Missile, 1 Transport Copter
BH: 1 Infantry, 1 Tank, 4 Battle Copters, 1 Fighter, 2 Bombers

Rank Points: 290-300 points with a Rank S.
Speed: Try to finish within 4-5 days.
Power: Just shoot everything in sight.
Technique: Remember to retreat or combine units when injurd, take out enemy's Bombers and Fighter first.



Mission 5: Lash Out

Sami vs. Lash
Difficulty: **

"Sami: Enemies at sea and on land. Outwit them and capture the HQ!"
 
Nell will teach you how to use Cruiser to fetch Transport Copter. With Sami as CO in charged, capturing enemy HQ will be a wise choice. This is also a timed mission, 7 days count down.

General Idea of the strategy:

First, get your Transport Copter into your Cruiser then attack enemy Sub with your same Cruiser. Attack enemy Rocket with your Battle Ship. Load both tanks into Lander and move to end North along the beach. Dive your sub near your Cruiser, DO NOT park side to side with enemy troops, they can spot you even you have dive or hide. Mech at south load into APC and APC move to north. Other units move north towards enemy HQ.

Second, when your Landers reach enemy's HQ island, park you Lander at the right hand side of the beach, unload both tanks. Wipe out enemy Rocket with Battle Ship and Sub with your Sub. Move your Cruiser most west, the edge of your HQ island, unload your Transport Copter at the plain field. Load a Mech inside Transport Copter. Other units proceed to enemy HQ by land.

Third, If available, move your north tank 2 west, west tank 1 north, together with your Lander blocking the right side of the beach, you will quarantine two space of beach at enemy HQ island. Move your Transport Copter and land your Mech here.

Last, clear every threat to Mech and start capture enemy HQ, if you quick enough, you might wipe out enemy forces before finish the capture.

Predeployed Units:
OS: 3 Mechs, 1 APC, 1 Artillery, 2 Tanks, 1 Rocket, 1 Lander, 1 Sub, 1 Cruiser, 1 Battleship
BH: 3 Infantry, 2 A-Air, 1 Rocket, 1 Sub, 1 Cruiser

Rank Points: 290-300 points with a Rank S.
Speed: Finish within 7 days count down.
Power: Claer as many troops as you can.
Technique: Remember to retreat or combine units when injurd.



Mission 6: Andy's Time

Andy vs. Flak
Difficulty: **

"Andy: Enemies cannons! Can they be destroyed?"
 
Here you will be your first meet with Black Cannon. This 3x3 space building cannot be captured, deals 5 damage to 1 (yes, attack once per round per target, luckily not map attack, phew~) strongest unit with the most HP in its range. By the way, Black Cannon covers 82 squares spread out forms and has 99 hp. Destroy it to complete the mission.

General Idea of the strategy:

Black Cannon default attack every turn but since this is a prototype, it only fire once after few rounds. A full health Medium Tank will take out Black Cannon more than 50hp per hit, so i'm going to recommend to use Medium Tanks.

First, take your predeployed infantry to capture the base on the island, located in the middle of the map. create two infantry and finish the day.

Second, capture the factory and move both infantry at your HQ north and create a Medium Tank.

Third, after finish captured base at the island, use it to create Medium Tanks, will save lots of travel time. capture as many buildings and destroy as many enemy troops as you can. If you deploy only Medium Tanks, you should have more than 3 Medium Tanks at the 7-8 days.

Last, sent 2 Medium Tanks to the Black Cannon, blast it's door/core, finish it in 2 hits.

Predeployed Units:
OS: 1 Infantry, 1 Transport Copter
BH: Black Cannon

Rank Points: 290-300 points with a Rank S.
Speed: Try to finish within 10-11 days.
Power: Claer as many troops as you can.
Technique: Remember to retreat or combine units when injurd.



Mission 7: Test of Time

Andy vs. Flak
Difficulty: ***

"Andy: The enemy lab in the mountains must be captured!"
 
This is the first Fog Of War map, but the last Training-type mission. All terrain is hidden by fog, it prevents units from seeing beyong their individual vision ranges. Terrain like woods will only reveal if you park beside it, Recon will be essential here with its high movement and vision range. This is a timed mission too. Capture the lab or wipe out all enemy's troops to win.

General Idea of the strategy:

First, Load you Mech in APC and move to the plain field between the wood along the road side and mountain, unload Mech into the mountain. Move your infantry into APC. Blast enemy infantry with your A-Air, enemy Artillery with your Artillery and Recon, enemy Recon with Tank, enemy A-Air with your Medium Tank. move your Rocket to the bottom right conner city.

Second, finish off the infantry with A-Air, Recon with Mech. Sami will inform you that enemy hid their indirect-combat attack units in the woods at the north of map. Move your Tank, Recon, Medium Tank to most north east along the road to reveal the woods, prepare to get blasted.

Third, finish off enemy APC with your Artillery and A-Air, kill the infantry if he walk across the bridge. Move your Mech and APC east across the bridge. Blast all indirect-combat unit in the woods and proceed to enemy's lab.

Forth, park your recon in the plain field between the woods at the right hand side of enemy's lab. If enemy's Rocket not yet reveal, it most probably will be here. Move your full health tanks near it and finish it. In the same time move your Mech and APC near the lab, unload your infantry 2 square beside enemy Rocket, else, DO NOT unload your infantry before enemy's indirect-combat units are wipe off.

Last, capture the lap with either Infantry or Mech, within 7 days. If you plan well, you might clear the mission with wiping out all enemy's troops. By the way, there's a Lander at the reef.

Predeployed Units:
OS: 1 Infantry, 1 Mech, 1 APC, 1 Recon, 1 A-Air, 1 Tank, 1 Medium Tank, 1 Artillery, 1 Rocket
BH: 2 Infantry, 1 Recon, 1 APC, 1 A-Air, 1 Artillery, 1 Rocket, 1 Lander

Rank Points: 290-300 points with a Rank S.
Speed: Finish within 7 days count down.
Power: Claer as many troops as you can.
Technique: Remember to retreat or combine units when injurd, careful the hidden indirect-combat units.



Mission 8: Liberation

Andy, Max, or Sami vs. Flak
Difficulty: ****

"CO Select: At last! The enemy stronghold! Can we win back our country?"
 
Disadvantage to players due to Black Hole's factory, which is given units through a pipeline. You'll want to seize the neutral airport early and smash the pipeline seem to win. I can teach you to destroy the pipeline seem in 4 days, but you will get 0 for Power points. So to get some power points, you still have to destroy some units, within 12-15 days.

General Idea of the strategy:

This strategy works well with all 3 Orange Star CO.

First, create a APC at the most north west base, and an infantry beside it.

Second, fetch him and drop him in the river below the airport. Create another 2 infantry.

Third, move your infantry from river to airport to capture it. APC move back to HQ to fetch the left side infantry, move your right site infantry north and capture the cities.

Forth, build a Bomber after finish capture the airport. Move your APC far left, drop infantry to capture the base first, you will need some Tanks to defend yourself.

Fifth, make some Battle Copter to do some damage. Kill as many units as you can to earn some Power points.

Last, remember the formula of Power points? You don't want to let Flak create too many troops cause if you can't destroy most of them, you will lose some Power points. So, do as many damages as you can in 4-12 day, destroy the pipeline seem at the 12-15 day.

Power: Claer as many troops as you can.
Technique: Remember to retreat or combine units when injurd.
