iPad vs Smartphone vs Booklet 3G/Netbook vs Laptop. Functionality wars

This morning a friend of mine talk about IPad, he said that he and his friend impressed by it's efficiency, so i decided to check out whether this high tech toy is as good as they mention. First of first, nothing personal here, just want to find out is it as good as it's promoted.

Here is some link i've found online, some user's comment after use.

1. yahoo's ask and answer  :
   *  It doesn't have an SD card slot or USB slot. You want to load all your photos on it? You need to buy a special dongle and attach it to the iPad. Ah yes, that's "convenient" and "cost-effective", the latest product got Micro-SIM card tray (Wi-Fi + 3G model only, dont want to mention the price....)

   *  Output like vga or other must get the adapter.
   *  And then, for me it's a very "vital" flaw, no multitasking allowed. you can erther read or type one in one time, your choice.
   *  No flash support, Enjoy the web without much of its content!
   *  The size of the hard disk, 64GB, honsestly, enough? dont tell me you are going to covert all your photo to jpeg, all movie to rvmb and songs to mp3 with 64 kbps.
   *  IPad bluetooth only recognize thier own "species" other? sorry.
   *  IPad got inbuild mic, can skype but cant put in the pocket like smartphone, meaning you will talk to a screen with a size of a book. nice try Apple.

   *  The price? check it out

2. MyNokiaBlog  :
   *  This one support a result of user voting with title: THE MOST PRODUCTIVE DEVICE FOR YOU
  • iPad
  • N900/Smartphone
  • Booklet 3G/Netbook
  • Laptop
   *  Result shows that IPad only get 8 % of the total votes, laptop get the crown with 41%, 70 votes. Surprise? iPad is not about functionality or practicality. Just like your girlfriend or wife might appreciate some Prada shoes or Gucci handbags, when she could have gotten cheaper, better value ones at the high street; the iPad is about brand. The Apple Factor. The strengths of the iPad have nothing to do with the iPad; it’s all in the integrated music/app/book stores.

3. PCWORLD  :
   *  This one is the keyboard or word typing issue, since the IPad is touch screen. Of corse, you can get external keyboard, get it from your nearest APPLE outlet.

4. IPad Vs Netbook  :
   *  Ok, to show that i'm neutral, here is some good rating for IPad, check it out.

5. Screen  :
   *  This one is about the screen. neutral

6. Speed Using Native Apps  :
   *  IPad win, check out the chart.

7. WiFi Speed  :
   *  Ok, they say the WiFi speed is impressing, check this page and the test result chart.

8. Another WiFi Review  :
   *  This report consider a better and more neutral version, con and pro, embed with video.

So, after all this comparison, how do you think of IPad? My personal view, got potential to be next big thing, but for the time being, it's still go back to the basic question: does the spec meets your needs or overwhelm? can you fully utilise all the function provided? does the price equal to productive? Technical service, spare parts and after sales service? Compatibility to other gadgets, price and more. Conclusion , it's a good product if the pro overcome con.             ~光之军~
